Chrysalis 63 by DisfiguredStick Chrysalis 63 by DisfiguredStick
Chrysalis as a man changeling thing. I didn't want to buff him up because changelings are frail looking messes.

EDIT:
......Read the description... far out guys- rule 63 doesn't mean I have to change them radically. I wanted it subtle. Comment something useful for once, Deviantart.

I'm glad you kept it subtle, both look great !
You can definitely tell the difference between the two .... Ehh, sometimes I wonder about dA users :P

What was the point of even saying that? They're not identical pictures, but they are supposed to be similar.

you should modify body mane and face but it's good anyway

Epic job. Its acctually pretty eaisy to tell them apart. The girl chrysalis has more of a circular face and the boy chrysalis has more of a boxy angled face

Thought: the tail on the right-hand version passes behind the right rear leg, but is not shown through the holes in said leg.

although I appreciate the comments, it would be nicer if you kept it all in a single comment. Yes I know, it was only quick- so I didn't really pay attention to small detail. I'm not here asking for critique of something I am aware of.

I haven't figured out yet how to edit an existing comment. The comments in question were posted 17 hours ago, 8 hours ago, and 7 hours ago respectively as I revisited the piece and noticed details that I had not noticed before. (I have been telling my friends about how neat your piece is using Instant Messenger, and I have been reopening the window to copy the url to send it to them and gaze upon the image anew.)

I was not aware that you were aware of the issue of the foot, nor did I have any way of knowing whether or not you were aware of the issue, and I certainly was not aware that this was "only quick."

You are coming across, in your response, as angry and defensive, and that is making me get defensive, and I'm concerned I'm going to start seeming harsh; I have not slept, and my mood has soured as a result. But I'm left with the impression that the slightest disagreement with anything you have done is met either with derision or excuses, and that troubles me. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are actually trying to convey when you write to people commenting.

You are "not here asking for critique of something [you are] aware of." But what _are_ you asking for?

You specifically said "Comment something useful for once." What did you mean by that? What constitutes "useful?"

Guy, just stop comment spamming ok. I am not asking for anything. Stop overthinking. I am not getting defensive- just seeing multiple comments on the one thing is irritating. I don't really need the life story, just leave it at this.

(I'm assuming this is a compare/contrast between female on the left and male on the right. This contributes further to just how epic this piece is.)

I disagree. If we specifically compare and contrast the one on the left from the right (e.g. assume the one on the left is based on the original Chrysalis design and the one on the right is male) the differences are drastic and glaring, ranging from body shape (more angular on the right, slightly more bulky, more conservative hair/tail, differences in the number of holes reducing the "lace" effect) to the overall reduction in unnecessary adornment. The notched ear concerns me, though, as that is traditionally a method of branding a horse as belonging to someone.

The overall result is that the creature on the right looks both older and significantly more masculine. Also significantly more menacing.

All that said, they both look somewhat younger than the one portrayed in the episodes, who was adult following her reversion, and was approximately the size (and relative body shape) of Celestia, towering over the real Cadence and the other ponies. I'm assuming, therefore, that these are younger, past versions of the character.

Very impressive work. Into my Favorites it goes.

I think it looks great. The only real differences I see here are the sharper eyes and the teeth, and maybe the slimmer (?) tale of the male Chrysalis. Though I really do have to say that the lack of change in body shape makes him appear terribly feminine, even if changelings are frail. ^^; I couldn't help but say. But the point is, I rather like these.

If anime men can look like girls, this guy can too. I don't really care if he looks feminine. I never asked for any critique. I just wish people would stop mentioning it.

I know, I didn't really mean for it to be really critique-ish. I'm sorry, ahaha... I can actually imagine the male version of Chrysalis being buff, and it simply does not fit. I just felt like mentioning - sorry for the time-wasting comment...

63 chrysalis has this sickly death horse vibe going on, which is really cool! The original has a little bit more of a witchy feel. At first I didn't know he was genderbent, but I loved the slight redesign. Then I read the description. XD I think its awesome. personally I might have thinned the back hips a little more, but that's preference! How did you get that grainy texture to look so good with star-like sparkles? wow

I couldn't tell she was supposed to be male here, but my headcanon is that Changelings don't really adhere to binary gender anyway, so a "male" version would probably look much the same anyway. XD
